A remarkable book for sure is TRANS4MATIONS, 4 mallet multi-percussion studies for drum set, published in Norway by Norsk Musikforlag. A methodical approach to learning and refining 4 mallet technique using only a drum set, which received a very positive review from Percussive Notes, the renowned American percussion magazine. In 2021, the chamber music bundle 4 MOVEMENTS 4 multi-percussion and piano followed, as did another great review in Percussive Notes! toKata dedicated to international virtuosos Katarzyna Mycka and Gene Koshinski is another special project. 3 different versions of this marimba piece provide a fascinating musical adventure. toKata is a playful and virtuoso 4 mallet encore, toKata #2 a version for 2 mallets and toKata #2*2 is a duet for 2 players with 2 mallets sharing 1 marimba! #reBoot is a virtuoso solo for marimba and with Upgrades 3.1 his first book for solo piano has been released. All these books and compositions are distributed worldwide by Norsk Musikforlag.

TRANS4MATIONS

“This book transforms the drum set into a four-mallet instrument!”
– PERCUSSIVE NOTES
Also as teacher and educator, Bart walks many different paths. He teaches at the inspiring Utopia in Aalst (Belgium), the building itself is an award-winning architectural gem in which a Performing Arts Academy goes hand in hand with a public library. His pedagogical activities there include teaching piano, percussion and percussion ensemble. It is part of his pedagogical mission to make (his) percussion music accessible to a wide range of percussionists. In addition, the need and search for different complex technical and musical applications benefits from other way’s of looking at writing and composing for percussion. That’s why Bart developed his own notation system for percussion. In his books Bart includes a special notation for the percussion parts in addition to classical notation as a way of promoting technical insight and accessibility.
